Valley of the Dry Bones
Ezekiel had a vision, recorded in Ezekiel 37, of a valley of dry bones. God asked Ezekiel if he thought the bones could live, and he replied that he thought they could. God told him to “prophesy upon these bones, and say to them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.” He did it, and the bones started coming together, assembling themselves, and covering themselves with skin. Ezekiel prophesied again, and the wind came and breathed life into them. Those dry bones, God said, were the nation of Israel, dead in spirit and without hope. Just as the bones came together and lived again, so too the Israelites would be brought together and led to their own land.

Spiritual Genesis
Taft Richardson sees art as the vehicle that can transport him to the Garden of Eden. Art, for Richardson, is like the Garden in Genesis 2, a place of peace and goodness. He speaks of feeling like Adam – the dweller in the garden, and also the one who was the first creative human in the Bible. Adam named the animals: “Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field…” (Genesis 2:19-20).
